DMT Models the Near-Death Experience
Timmermann and colleagues gave DMT to volunteers and found the resulting experience overlapped strongly with near-death-experience phenomenology on a validated scale. It matters here as a convergence result: two very different doorways — a molecule and a brush with death — open onto measurably similar territory. The authors frame this naturalistically (shared brain states, not a shared external reality), so it supports the phenomenon's consistency without asserting the reality is real.
