John Archibald Wheelers „It from Bit“-Vorschlag besagt, dass jedes physikalische Ding seine Existenz aus Ja-Nein-Fragen ableitet: Information vor Materie. Diskussionen in der Community greifen die Phrase als physikalisch respektables Rückgrat für Code-Readings auf. Die entliehene Version geht weit über das hinaus, was Wheeler behauptete, und die Distanz zwischen den beiden ist es an sich wert, klar gesehen zu werden.
